From the above table we can readily see that several things are required to become a Christian. Since ". . .God is no respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34) we can understand that God requires everyone, no matter what his or her status is to do the identical thing to become a Christian. If he required the Eunuch to believe, we must believe. If he required Saul to be baptized, we must be baptized. So let's look again at the table.

It is clear that all five things must happen in order to become a Christian. If we remove any one of the items: hearing, believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized, then one or more of the individuals listed above would have had to have done more, thus making God a respecter of persons.

A person therefore must:

  1. Hear
  2. Believe
  3. Repent
  4. Confess (i.e., that is confess that Jesus Christ is the son of God)
  5. Be Baptized

If you have never been taught this, or your church teaches something different, we urge you to contact the local congregation of the church of Christ in your area. Or you may feel free to contact us for further assistance. We hope that you will see the urgent need to become a Christian, the way the Bible says to become one, today.
