The Bible is Complete and Indestructible


When you begin a trip somewhere, it is good to know that the map you are using to guide you is complete.  That is, it contains the directions to all of the roads you might travel down and all the directions are correct.  The most frustrating thing to discover is an incomplete map!  It is also good to have a map that will not tear, fade, or change on you.  Can you imagine if all the roads on a map suddenly rearranged themselves?!  It would be chaos.  Do not fear!  Not only is God's word complete but it is indestructible, as well.

All Truth
The Apostle John brings out a point in what Jesus was saying:  The knowledge that the Holy Spirit would guide them in was all truth, not just a part of the truth.  God does not want us to be half blinded, so he has given us the entire truth!
 John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
All Things
This truth that God has given us contains all we need to know about life and godliness.   That covers all things!  God has given us the knowledge that we need to live the abundant life! (John 10:10)
 2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whole Counsel of God
Paul is telling the listeners that he has not held anything back in what he has preached, written, or otherwise conveyed to him.  He has declared the whole counsel, the sum of everything God wanted them and wants us to know.  That information is contained in the Bible.
 Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Lasts Forever
This is very reassuring.  No matter what men may come and try to destroy God's word, no matter what calamity comes upon the earth, the Holy Scriptures will not disappear.   We also see that this eternal word is the Gospel.
 Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

It is good to know that the Bible is eternal and that the Bible is complete in what it tells us.  If the Bible doesn't talk about it, it is not important to life and godliness and we shouldn't worry about it.
